Licensing

SaveToDB uses a dual-license model:

Free Edition
Licensed under the MIT License, allowing free use, including for commercial purposes.
Standard and Enterprise Editions
Licensed under a proprietary End-User License Agreement (EULA). These editions offer extended features and priority technical support.

Quick Start

Download and unzip the setup package.
Right-click the downloaded file, select Extract All..., and choose a folder on your local drive.
Close Microsoft Excel.
Run setup.exe and follow the setup instructions.
The installer will also open a web page with useful tips.
Open Microsoft Excel. You should see the Database tab.
If the Database tab is missing, refer to the installation troubleshooting section below.

Next Steps

You can connect to your database right away using the Database tab, then select Wizards, Connection Wizard.

Try out the online examples available in the Wizards, Online Examples menu.

These examples are a great starting point for both business users and developers.

Workbooks and source codes for any supported platform are available in the SaveToDB SDK.

Free Edition, Trial Period, and Activating SaveToDB

You can use the SaveToDB add-in for free.

The free edition includes many features for using Microsoft Excel as a reporting tool.

This version allows saving data only to database tables.

You can activate a trial version for 30 days at any time to test all features of the SaveToDB Enterprise edition.

To activate the trial, click the Register Product button in the Help menu.

Restart Microsoft Excel after registration.

Installing

To install the SaveToDB add-in, close Microsoft Excel if it's open, run setup.exe, and follow the instructions.

Installation Troubleshooting

If you don't see the Database tab in Microsoft Excel, run Start, All Programs, SaveToDB, and select Run Diagnostic Tool. Follow the instructions provided.

If the diagnostic tool doesn't resolve the issue, try registering the add-in manually using the following file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Gartle\SaveToDB\RegisterSaveToDB_User.cmd

If the Database tab still doesn't appear, activate the add-in from the disabled items in Excel:

Open File, Options, Add-Ins, select Disabled Items from the Manage list (bottom left corner), choose the add-in, and click Enable.

Upgrading

Uninstall the previous version if it's below 5.0 before upgrading.

The installer will convert previous versions 1.x-8.x to a free version. You can activate a new 30-day trial period.

Customers who purchased the upgrade warranty can register SaveToDB 9 for free using the same product keys.

If you want to revert to the previous version, uninstall the latest version and install the older one.
In this case, you can continue using it without any additional steps.

Uninstalling

To uninstall the SaveToDB add-in:

Close Microsoft Excel.
Open Control Panel.
Go to Programs and Features.
Select SaveToDB and click the Uninstall button.
