Quick Start

Download and unzip the setup package.
To unzip the package, right-click on the downloaded file, click Extract All... and select any folder on a local drive.
Close Microsoft Excel.
Run setup.exe and follow setup instructions.
The installer also opens a web page with useful tips.
Open Microsoft Excel. You should see the Database tab.
If you do not see the Database tab, read the installation troubleshooting below.

Next Steps

For the first time, we recommend opening Help, Start Page to get quick help.

Also, you can immediately connect to your database using the Database tab, Wizards, Connection Wizard.

We recommend trying online examples using the Wizards, Online Examples menu.

Learning these examples is a good start point for business users and developers.

You can find workbooks and source codes for any supported platform in the SaveToDB SDK.

Free Edition, Trial Period, and Activating SaveToDB

You may use the SaveToDB add-in for free.

The free edition has a lot of features to use Microsoft Excel as a reporting application.

The free version does not allow saving data to a database.

You may activate the trial version for 30 days at any time once to test all the features of the SaveToDB Enterprise edition.

To activate the trial period, click the Register Product button in the Help menu.

Restart Microsoft Excel after the registration.

Installing

To install the SaveToDB add-in, close Microsoft Excel if opened, run setup.exe, and follow instructions.

Installation Troubleshooting

If you do not see the Database tab in Microsoft Excel, please run Start, All Programs, SaveToDB, Run Diagnostic Tool, and follow instructions.

If the diagnostic tool does not help, try to register the add-in manually using the following file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Gartle\SaveToDB\RegisterSaveToDB_User.cmd

If there is still no Database tab, please, try to activate the add-in from the disabled items in Excel:

Open File, Options, Add-Ins, Disabled Items in the Manage list (in the bottom left corner), select the add-in, and click Enable.

Upgrading

Please uninstall the previous version first if it is below 5.0.

The installer converts previous versions 1.x-8.x to a free version. You may activate a new 30-day trial period.

Customers, who purchased the upgrade warranty, may register SaveToDB 9 for free, using the same product keys.

If you prefer to return to the previous version, you can uninstall the newest version and install the previous one.
In this case, you can continue to use it without additional actions.

Uninstalling

To uninstall the SaveToDB add-in:

Close Microsoft Excel.
Open Control Panel.
Open Program and Features.
Select SaveToDB and click the Uninstall button.
