Advanced Features for Excel Windows

The SaveToDB add-in has two advanced features for working with Excel windows:

  • Auto-arranging windows
  • Auto-activating related windows

These features work in Microsoft Excel 2007 and 2010 only as Microsoft changed the window model starting Excel 2013.

Also, SaveToDB 8 is the last version that supports these features. We removed the features starting SaveToDB 9.

You can turn on or off the features in the Options dialog box.

If the auto-arranging is turned on, the add-in arranges windows when any window changes its size or position.

For example, you can move a window border or move the entire window.

If the auto-activating is turned on, the add-in saves and restores windows linked to a worksheet in the first window.

The example, you opened three windows:

When you select Sheet2 in window 1, the add-in hides windows 2 and 3:

When you select Sheet1, the add-in restores windows 2 and 3 in the previous state.

You can maximize the window to disable this behavior temporarily. Use the Options dialog box to turn off the feature.
